The Longshore Drifters release their latest single, dreamy nocturnal lament ‘To Night’ on 28th July. This is the retro-modern honky tonk band's latest single from their forthcoming album scheduled for release in September.

‘To Night’ explores the push and pull of vulnerability that whispers in our soul and terrifies us, through the shadows and light. Smouldering and atmospheric, it is The Longshore Drifters most cinematic release to date.

‘To Night’ is instrumentally one of The Longshore Drifters darker tunes, giving Michelle Miller's incandescent vocal space to creep, meander and soar through the ups and downs of this slow burning lament. The band take something of a back seat, weaving in and out of a heady mist of crying pedal steel and lingering guitar lines, building steadily and carefully with a behind-the-beat minimalism which calls to mind Mazzy Star or The Handsome Family.

‘To Night’ shows The Longshore Drifters ability to colour outside of the lines and still keep a firm grip on their traditional country roots. Lines like ‘Come and dance with me, on a laminate floor’ bring the kitchen sink realism that has been a staple of country song writing since the days of Hank Willams Snr, whilst the blown out baritone guitar at the song’s crescendo is a deliberate nod to Grady Martin’s infamous accidental fuzz solo on Marty Robbins ‘Don’t Worry’.

East Sussex quartet, The Longshore Drifters, breathe new life into old school country music with Harmony rich duets and heartworn songcraft. Their retro-modern honky-tonk sound was born from the chance meeting of songwriters Michelle Miller & Mark J. Lee at a late-night Hastings Old Town picking session. Since then, they have quickly gained a reputation for passionately reinvigorating classic country sounds both on stage and in the studio.
