The LONGSHORE DRIFTERS release new single
'HURRICANES & RAZOR WIRE' 25/03/25
The Longshore Drifters are an unapologetically old school country band, inspired by hardcore honky tonk and golden age duets. Songwriters Michelle Miller & Mark J. Lee co-front the quintet who are fast becoming a must see live act for long-time country aficionados and the honky tonk curious alike with their particular brand of forward looking retro Americana.
New single HURRICANES & RAZOR WIRE is a slow-burning, laid-back & laconic country duet, drawing out the hoping and yearning of a world weary vagabond. Songwriters Michelle Miller & Mark J. Lee explore the essence of homecoming and hope across great distances coupled with a sweet and bleak longing. There's plenty of woozy western swing swagger as they declare a ‘cards on the table’ sentimentality among a chorus wrapped in surrealist rapture. Restless Telecasters ebb and flow with soothing pedal steel giving just a drop of psychedelic glimmer amongst the nods to the 'Yodelling Brakeman', Jimmy Rodgers and classic country duets in the vein of Loretta & Conway or George & Tammy.
Hurricanes & Razor Wire is the first single to be released from The Longshore Drifters first full length album, following the release of last year's 'THE GRIND' EP.
